Terrence J. Checki

Terrence J. CheckiTerrence J. Checki is executive vice president and head of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s emerging markets and international affairs group. He also is a member of the bank’s Management Committee.

Mr. Checki has functioned as the bank’s chief international troubleshooter for the past two decades, and is well known among industry insiders, in both the public and private sectors, for his contributions to the management and resolution of the external debt problems that have engulfed many developing nations and their creditors during that period.

Mr. Checki’s varied career at the bank has included a number of key posts in the bank’s corporate, bank supervision, foreign and international affairs areas. Immediately prior to being named an executive vice president, he had been serving as advisor to the president of the bank on matters related to financial developments in emerging markets.

Mr. Checki holds an M.S. from Columbia University and a B.A. from St. Peter’s College. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the Americas Society, the Economic Club of New York, the National Committee on U.S.-China Relations, the Board of Directors of the Foreign Policy Association, the International Advisory Board of the Center for Global Finance at the Lubin School of Business, and the National Advisory Board of the Institute for Policy Studies at Johns Hopkins University.
