Why the Fed?
As the nation's central bank, the Fed seemed like an interesting place to work but I became especially drawn to it during the recent financial crisis. I admired the innovative tools used to stabilize our financial system. I was also intrigued by the opportunity to creatively use my experience in financial services to be part of a solution to the crisis.
I assist and work with Ph.D. economists who perform research work and policy analysis. I often contribute to producing presentations or briefings given to the Bank president and senior management, or at external research conferences. A big part of my job also involves programming in statistical packages to perform econometric analysis for the economists research papers.
Challenges and Rewards of My Job

The Maiden Lane facilities touch on many specialties, so it can be a challenge to stay current on several different topics.

The New York Fed wants well-rounded individuals and encourages employees to work in different areas of the Bank.
