Jack Gutt to Assume Leadership of Communications Group
October 25, 2013

NEW YORK — Jack Gutt, vice president of media relations, has been appointed head of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York’s Communications Group, effective immediately.

“Jack’s leadership of our media relations team over the past few years has been key to fostering greater understanding between the New York Fed and the public it serves,” said William C. Dudley, president and chief executive officer of the New York Fed.  “I have every confidence in Jack as he steps into this broader role.”

Mr. Gutt has more than 18 years of experience counseling global companies, non-profit organizations and governments on crisis and issues management, corporate positioning, transactions, public affairs and media strategy.

Prior to joining the New York Fed, Mr. Gutt served as managing director at several leading public relations and public affairs firms and was one of the founding partners of Vistance Group LLC.  He began his communications consulting career working for the Presidency of the Republic of Ecuador on its privatization and modernization program, and later remained in the region advising multinationals doing business in Latin America as well as several political candidates during three electoral cycles.  In 1998, he moved to South Florida where he helped to establish Hill & Knowlton’s office.

Mr. Gutt has served as acting head of the Communications Group since September.  He joined the Bank in September 2009 as an officer in media relations and public affairs.  Mr. Gutt holds degrees in newspaper journalism and political science, both from Syracuse University.
