Research Analyst Opportunities for College Graduates

Ph.D. Summer Internship Opportunities
Each year, the Research and Statistics Group of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York seeks qualified candidates for three summer internship positions. Ph.D. students in all fields of economics and finance who are completing their dissertation work are welcome to apply.

The Program, begun in the summer of 2006, is designed to provide students with the opportunity to participate in the intellectual life of the Research Group. Throughout the internship, the student's time will be dedicated to furthering their dissertation research, interacting with research economists, and obtaining feedback on their work. Students will be expected to present research, in an informal setting, at the beginning and end of the internship.

The interns are hosted for a period of eight weeks during June through August, and will receive compensation for the period in which they work in the Program. Please note that all Program participants must be authorized to work in the U.S. If you are not currently authorized to work in the U.S., you must make arrangements with your school to obtain the necessary practical training permissions to be able to participate in the Program.

Applications can be sent to research_phdintern@ny.frb.org. In the subject line, applicants should specify a primary and secondary field (if needed) from the following: Microeconomics, Macro and Monetary Economics, International Finance and Trade, Financial Markets and Intermediation, or Asset Pricing and Market Microstructure. They should include:
  • a CV
  • their dissertation proposal
  • any research papers (if available, including current work)
  • a copy of the graduate transcript (unofficial scanned copy is acceptable)
  • exactly one letter of reference from an advisor (sent by the advisor to the above e-mail address)
The application deadline is March 30, 2014. Candidates will be notified of decisions by mid-April.
