| The conference will begin by examining the historical transformations of the “engine of growth” industries in the New York metropolitan area, as well as more recent changes in the nature and location of economic activities in this area. It will then address the impact of such changes on a variety of socioeconomic outcomes, both for the general population and for recent immigrants in particular.
